The weeks have grown steadily lighter. Earlier mornings, later evenings, shorter nights.
The hints of spring started in January with winter jasmine, and like a chorus building to a finale, the flowers have come out in steadily increasing numbers ever since.
It has not been the most beautiful spring I can remember here, owing to heavy rains and several inopportune freezes, but by this end-month, with 14-20c each day, the hens laying like gangbusters, and finally some dry weather, I think we can truly say we are over the hump.
What that also means is that everything that is not yet done in the garden, which is most things, is suddenly overdue!
